Solid Brass

About

Brass is a versatile alloy that has been utilised by humans for centuries due to its unique properties and aesthetic appeal. It is primarily composed of copper and zinc, with varying proportions of each metal depending on the desired characteristics.

The combination of copper and zinc gives brass a golden-like appearance, making it a popular choice for decorative items and musical instruments. Brass is known for its excellent machinability, corrosion resistance, and durability, making it suitable for a wide range of applications, from plumbing fittings and electrical connectors to ornamental sculptures and jewellery.

Sustainability

Brass possesses several sustainable qualities that make it an environmentally friendly choice. Firstly, brass is a highly durable material with a long lifespan, reducing the need for frequent replacements. This longevity helps to conserve resources and reduce waste.

Additionally, brass is a fully recyclable metal, meaning it can be melted down and reused indefinitely without losing its properties. The recycling process consumes significantly less energy compared to the production of virgin brass.

Our selection criteria

Our hardware is made from solid brass, which will develop a more understated look over time. We only use solid brass, as it ensures a longer life and a more durable finish. Coated metals are also harder to recycle, and don’t age well.
